Continued from 11/6/10. We decided to breast feed and pump depending on the situation.  The problem was FJ was spending approximately 40 minutes or more breast feeding and still seemed hungry a short while later.  It was like I spent the day breast feeding or afterwards supplementing with formula.  To top it all off, he was getting horrible gas pains.  We couldn't figure out if it was something in my diet from breast feeding or if it was the formula.  Our doctor thought maybe we should switch to Sensitive Similac.  However, FJ was eating about 3 oz. per 3 hours and the doctor said babies on average eat about 1-2 oz per 3 hours.  Well, of course, being new parents my husband and I freaked out that we were creating a "chunker" like we were destined to be.  We discussed reducing his intake but when we tried it temporarily he was irritable and hardly slept.  He was exhausted and hungry.  After talking to other parents who said they let their children eat until they either fell asleep or dismissed the bottle or breast we chose this option.  I was not going to make my son starving just to have FJ be an "average" baby.  Ridiculous.  We switched from regular formula to sensitive.  My advice if you're going to do this:  ween your baby slowly.  Don't make our mistake and just change formulas all in one day.  This was too much for his little digestive system and he thrived in gas pain for about 4 or 5 days.  The doctor said it takes 48-72 hours for the other formula to leave his system.  FJ is feeling better now but does still get a lot of gas pain and is having difficulty pooping.  Trying to figure all this stuff out sure is a learning experience!



100 cal English Muffin, 1/4 cup Break-free eggs, 1 Morning Star Veggie Sausage


1 cup fat-free organic milk

Lunch - 

Raw veggies

Fat-free yogurt

1/2 turkey sandwich, lettuce, tomato, whole wheat ( was at a baby shower)

Snack - 


Dinner - 

2 oz. turkey burger, 1/2 cup Healthy Choice Marinara, 2 oz. whole wheat pasta

Salad (mixed greens, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons) 2 tbsp. light ranch

Snack - 

100 cal popcorn
